Mark goes from working at the bar to running it

Mark Platten is the new manager at The Three John Scotts, in Hull – seven years after starting at the pub as a part-time bar associate.

He is pictured (left) with his former boss, Tony Hill, who ran the popular pub for almost 10 years with his wife Donna, from its opening day.

They have now moved to become managers of Wetherspoon’s new pub in Driffield, The Benjamin Fawcett.

Mark began his career with Wetherspoon in 2004, combining a part-time role at the pub for Tony and Donna with his job as a care worker.

Later, he joined the company full time and progressed his career, first as team leader, then duty manager, before training to become a pub manager.

Mark has also worked at two other Wetherspoon pubs in Hull – The Admiral of the Humber and The William Wilberforce.
