I have been a shift manager at The Lime Kiln, in Liverpool, since August 2009. During my time here, I have worked through the first part of the training programme; this includes completing workbooks and attending courses, such as ‘cash management’.
It is my responsibility to run the pub in the pub manager’s absence. I ensure that customers and staff are happy and safe at all times. I also work in the kitchen sometimes, something which it’s really important that I do, so that I have a good understanding of all areas of the kitchen, as well as the bar. I love working for Wetherspoon; although we do sometimes work under pressure, we all pull together as a team and ensure that the pub is run to the highest standards possible.
