I’m the deputy manager at The Regal, in Cambridge. I started my career with Wetherspoon in King’s Lynn, at one of the hotels, over eight years ago, before moving to The Regal in 2007.

I have progressed my career from shift manager, with no experience, to deputy manager, thanks to the fantastic career-development opportunities which I have been given. 

I also have my managers to thank for the support which they have offered me, to get me where I am today.

As deputy manager, it’s my responsibility to manage the daily running of the pub, alongside the pub manager. My daily tasks range from serving customers to managing the financial side of the business.

Every day is different – and there’s always lots to do and remember, but the excellent training programmes which Wetherspoon offers help you to manage the duties. I love the buzz of working in such a big, busy pub – and never get bored. It can be challenging, at times, but we work as a team to ensure that we are giving every single customer the best possible experience.
